Take a Bite of the Big Apple "The Beat of NY is right here in Richmond"
with Frances "La Salsera of Richmond"

Frances has danced Mambo, Guaracha, Cha-Cha and Pachanga for over 40 years. All of these dances become what we would call "Salsa". She learned all of her techniques from her aunt (Olga), who was one of the top mambo dancers at the Palidium (1960-65). At which time, during these forty years she acquired formal training and education for tap, jazz, ballet, drama and voice. She performed at Carnegie Hall in 1957, 1958 and 1960 for tap & jazz. She danced as a Solid Gold Dancer in 1969, The Johnny Carson Show, 1969 & 1970, and for Alvin Haley in 70's. She also danced in competition to the Hustle - 1976 & 77. She attended UCLA for Performing Arts and graduated from Performing Arts High School in NY, 1968. I have had twenty-two years of formal training.  Now that her career is on cruise-control, its now time to get back pursuing her life passion; dancing and teaching how to groove to all the dances of Afro-Caribbean Music. Richmond now has someone with a solid background in Latin Dancing and Instruction.

Frances attended the University of California - Los Angeles (UCLA) were she received her degree in Personnel Management. She also won a scholarship in Performing Arts and attended Performing Arts High School in Manhattan. Plus formal education in professional dancing and drama.

Her hobbies include: singing (church choir), dancing and entertaining family and friends.  As Sam Rodriguez from SalsaWeb DC stated - HERE COMES LA SALSERA OF RICHMOND TO STAY - As we expand our movement from north to south and east to west we need good competent Salseros advocates to disseminate, expose, and teach the origins of salsa music and dancing.   Frances has kindly asked to assume that role...Thanks Frances...anything just ask and let me know...Sam Rodriguez.
