An Interview with...

Frankie Negron

by Marla Friedler

He is incredibly talented yet humble, smart yet sweet, adorable yet adorable!!!

I think Frankie Negron is one of the most up and coming salseros today.

The backstage interview with him went as follows:

Marla:
You are so young, yet express incredible drive. What or who inspired you?

Frankie:
My father. My father used to listen to music all the time when I was growing up in New Jersey. Since I was young I was always interested in jazz.

Marla:
How did you feel performing on stage with Marc Anthony at the "Off to Broadway" concert at Madison Square Garden?

Frankie:
I really admire Marc. I consider him one of the best so it was an honor to be asked to perform with him.

Marla:
Any plans of releasing "Y Hubo Alguin" as a duet?

Frankie:
Not that song but we're talking about possibly doing something else together.

Marla:
Where did you learn to sing? Did you take lessons?

Frankie:
No, I never studied singing formally. Hopefully God will help me.

Marla:
What is some of your favorite music?

Frankie:
Well, I like the older stuff a lot, at least as much as the newer music.

Marla:
You are performing in "The Capeman" with Marc Anthony. How do you feel about the role?

Frankie:
I am really happy about it. It is quite an honor to me to be asked to be in it.

Marla:
The public is responding really well to you. You're only twenty years old and are already one of the brightest stars in the salsa world. What advice do you have for others who may want to follow in your footsteps?

Frankie:
Never give up and, above all, believe in yourself and follow your dreams.

I wish Frankie Negron the greatest success. He is such a nice guy...he deserves it!
