Latina's story...

I am a 21 year old latina who has an undying passion for salsa
music. I was born in Guatemala C.A. and raised in California
since the age of two. My mother is a singer for a Los Angeles
Salsa Orchestra and salsa has always been around me. It was
not until six months ago I realized that I wanted to dance salsa
professionally. I was at the Conga room and saw this couple that
swayed their bodies in unity with the beat of salsa and like a big
old rock, it hit me. . It was such and overwhelming experience
when this realization hit me. This is what I always wanted to do
but because of work and school I could not find anytime to fit it
in my schedule. I decided to call a local salsa radio station that
plays salsa only on weekends (unfortunately) and ask them to
direct to some of the local dance instructors, and they did. I
began by taking a beginner's course to make sure that I was
doing them correctly. I soon transfer to an intermediate class. I
began to go to all these salsa clubs! 7 days a week, regardless if
I worked or not, if I had class or not. All I wanted to do was to
dance and become a professional dancer so one day I could
compete at the Mayan and who knows maybe even win. I am
now part of this amateur dancing group called Alma y Sabor and
now I am doing what I always wanted……….dance salsa, dance
salsa, dance salsa. My desire for this rhythmic, sensual,
seductive, intriguing dance grows every day and it is
uncontrollable. I breathe, eat, and sleep salsa. I believe that I
have found my spot in the world and I plan to stay here. Thanks
salsaweb for having this wonderful and informative Website
where "salsaholics" like myself can feel at home
