Patricia's Story...

I will always remember the first time I heard Salsa and danced Salsa and how it evolved into a great passion. I was at a party and my friend played Che Che Cole by Willie Colon and we all started dancing. I have never stopped dancing Salsa since then. I went out to all the local nightclubs, knew all the musicians and danced almost every night.

I live in San Francisco and could not wait for the bands to come to San Francisco from New York. My friends and I saw all the bands from New York. I got to know some of the musicians from Orquesta Broadway (Charanga was very popular back then). Finally, the ultimate happened I PLANNED A TRIP TO NEW YORK with my friend Martha. We went in December (cold as heck as you can imagine). We went for 10 days and went out EVERY NIGHT while we were there. I will always remember that trip. All of the clubs had at least three different bands every night. Ladies always got in free before 11:00 and we never paid for one drink. We danced all night. All of the clubs stayed open until 4:00 a.m., and the after hours clubs were open until 12:00 the next day.
I had so much fun. Most of all, I learned how to dance "NEW YORK STYLE." It was so suave, so perfect. When I came back to San Francisco, I missed dancing with the New Yorkers who never missed a beat, who's turns were perfect and you felt like you were floating. I met a few guys in S.F. who were from New York and always looked for them when I went out dancing. Most of my best friends and Salsa partners moved back to New York or to Miami. I really miss them and my music. This is how I wound up in this web page. I want to remember those good times and and my salseros.

Reading yours and other stories brings back so many memories of having fun and and dancing. I am planning to go to New York again and even got a listing of all of the new clubs and events.

SALSERA FOREVER!!
