Ross' story...

The reason I should have e-mailed you a long time ago is
because, yes I am a Salsaholic and it has completely changed my life. That graph you have very much models the process I went through. I taught Salsa for the last year at the UWO Salsa club in London Ontario, Canada. I've been dancing Salsa now for over 2 years and Latin Ballroom for 3. I got into Latin night club dancing when I was dating a Polish girl, but it was a hustle I learned first and needless to say I loved it. Previously before getting into Salsa, sorry that's obsessively seeking Salsa, I taught in a professional dance studio. Soon after my sister started hanging out at this Latin Bar, and sometimes I
would tag along. At first I thought hustle was better (NOT!) however I didn't really know how to dance Salsa at the time and my sister wasn't able to teach me properly. Not to long after I saw this Latino guy and his girlfriend dance a Salsa, the way it's supposed to be danced, and let me tell ya I was blown away. From that scene and hearing the music constantly it eventually started to get inside me..., and then... I just... couldn't..... stop.

I never did get anyone to ever teach me the proper salsa basic. When I started working at the studio, the head instructor taught
me Mambo basics and the proper timing which allowed me to
build up my basic strongly on my own. He showed me something that he thought was Salsa, but it wasn't really. Then that was all I needed. I went out on my own and taught my self by watching the movie "Salsa" and other dancers.
I know that the movie "Salsa" is old and the moves in it are way
over used but it was good for some guy in Canada that had no
idea. It was funny because I wanted to buy a copy but none of
the video stores had it, so one day I rented the copy they had in
the store and went back the next day and told them it was stolen from my car. They only charged me $11, I thought no problem, its a cheap investment!

And now after 2... long... hard... years of strenuous Salsa dancing with all those women, having to endure practicing long hours into the night with 2 very beautiful female dance partners. (yes I know, I'm sarcastic; and I will admit very lucky) I've finally achieved to a level of dancing where I could probably compete and hold my own. Also my Salsa has now landed me a job as a performing dancer on a cruise ship for sunquest vacations starting mid April, and let me tell you I am so excited!!
Now I thank God every day that he/she has blessed us poor souls with the gift of Salsa.

Thank you Edie for doing such a wonderful job on SalsaWeb,
which has brought all Salsero's around the world together to
share this dance.
