Stephanie's Story...

Hi Edie:

I just moved here to the Miami area. Here is my salsa holic story. Well, I am originally from Germany, lived in California 10 years and two years in New York. While I was still living in California (Palo Alto) I fell in love with a Puertorican guy. Him being Puerto Rican he tried several times to force me on the dance floor to dance
Salsa and Merengue and I felt very unconfortable. So it was not untill he broke up with me (needless to say I never saw him again), when I decided to really learn how to dance Salsa. I was determined. I started to take classes at Albertos in Mountain view with Alex DaSilva ( he is on the web page I believe).
After three months I moved to New York. Everybody was telling me "Now you are going to see the real Salsa." But if you are new to the city you don't really know where to go, so it was not untill one year later, when I found this dance studio called Sandra Cameron, where they taught some Salsa. However, back in my head I wanted to find a Salsa studio which only concentrated on Salsa. Finally, someone gave me the tip to go to Eddie Torres
Studio where they danced on two only (the real Mambo style).
At first I was in shock- here I thought I was at an advanced level, but everbody was so good there that I literally had to start from the beginning. Eddies classes are Amazing. Anybody who goes to New York should really go there. I loved it so much. Classes are offered every day including Saturdays and Sundays.
In addition I started going to all the Salsa clups. Copa Cobana the nr. 1 Salsa club in New York - every Tuesday and Friday night. This is when I realized that I started to become Salsaholic- my friends thought I was absolutly crazy. I was possesed by Salsa.
Now that I moved to Miami I have not found something like an Eddie Torres Studio yet. I still am trying to discover all the different salsa clubs here. Maybe I should open up a real Salsa Studio here myself, but first I would have to find some excellent instructors who could help me. The ideas I have though !!!!!!!!!
